The excitement is building as I begin to make my packing list and meet my fellow mission team members! This is my first mission trip and I am looking forward to learning about the Guatemalan culture, the San Lucas Toliman community and forming friendships with my teammates! So far, we have had a couple of meetings to discuss the expectations of individual team members and the mission statement of San Lucas Toliman. There are 16 of us participating in this year's mission trip. We are all parishoners of St. Patrick Catholic Church in York, PA and represent a wide age range and varied professional backgrounds. We will be going to participate in the San Lucas community by helping with the maintenance of the coffee plants and building stoves for the families. It is my intention, to use this blog to further the San Lucas Mission and to express my adventures (misadventures!) of my first trip to Guatemala. With any luck, I'll be able to post pictures and share my experience with you! Comments are welcome - but can't promise I'll get right back to you - I'm not sure what to anticipate for how much internet time I'll have.

Here are a few pictures of some beautiful children taken by team members who went on a previous trip. I just LOVE their smiles! The background picture for the blog is the San Lucas Parish.
